The 2 Hounds Design Freedom No-Pull Harness & Leash: Say bye-bye to bad leash behavior

As Pet Care Professionals and dog walkers we field a lot of questions about leash etiquette - especially for new pet parents. As city dwellers in Boston and Brookline, training your dog to walk safely and fluently - while still having fun outside - is a big part of the experience of having a dog.

There are so many types of leashes, harnesses, collars, leads, and all manner of ways in which to secure a dog for a walk - but which to choose? Complicating this can also be a very common issue for most - a dog that pulls on the leash!

This AI generated lab looks like he’s having fun, but his parent’s shoulder socket feels otherwise.

Pulling on the leash while on a walk is extremely common, yet some new and long-time pet parents feel it can be an insurmountable challenge to correct. Good news though - with the correct gear it can be a breeze to resolve.

Our recommendation as dog walkers - the 2 Hounds Design Freedom No-Pull Harness and Leash. This system consists of two parts - the chest fitted harness and the dual mounted tether leash.

The harness functions similar to more traditional harness but features a metal loop at the chest and on the back to secure the lead at two points on the dog. The leash then loops from the chest anchor to the back anchor.

From 2 Hounds Design website: “The Freedom No-Pull Harness features a patented control loop on the back of the harness which tightens gently around your dog’s chest to discourage pulling behavior and makes walking your dog an easy, more enjoyable experience for both of you. It also features a structural connection ring on the front of the harness. Connecting to this ring is optional, but recommended, as it allows you to attach to the front and back of the harness simultaneously. Used this way, you can control pulling and redirect your dog’s attention back to you for training and treats.”

Aster (middle) is now able to walk with dogs of all sizes now that they are not constantly pulling at the end of the leash. Now everyone gets to hang out with Aster!

Our South End Neighborhood Manager, Jess, swears by the Freedom No-Pull Harness and Leash. She uses it on two lively, sweet, and excitable pups Brutus and Aster. Navigating around tight sidewalks and alleys, like those found in the South End (or Roslindale, Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, or Brookline - for that matter,) can be challenging with any dog, let alone one that pulls on the leash. Jess has found that the Freedom No-Pull Harness and Leash has not only made her walks easier to control but have created a more relaxed and fun pace for dogs like Aster and Brutus to enjoy with their friends. No longer are these two pulling at the end of their leashes and causing stress to their own bodies, her body, or the rest of the pack. They can now have a great time out with Jess and their furry friends without constantly pulling at the end of their leads.

Brave little Brutus even used the Freedom No-Pull Harness and Leash to learn to ride the escalator! So Brave!
