Boston Fetch Senior Pet Handler Position
Location: Mostly in Brookline
We are: a diverse group of people who love walking dogs and taking care of pets. Our passion is making sure our animal and human customers are both super happy.
You are: an animal lover who also has excellent administrative and organizational skills. You have experience working with animals, preferably with a pet care company. You want to be part of a growing company in a growing industry and you see this as a great opportunity to advance in your field. You are super flexible, responsible and friendly, and you are willing to do (almost!) anything to make sure our pets, customers and staff are happy.
Tasks/Responsibilities
Assist Neighborhood Manager with daily operations
Aim for approx. 30+ walks per work week, heavier on non-scheduling days
Scheduling and on call shifts
Training staff on new dogs
Daily walk audits
Regular check ins with staff
Attend new customer meetings
Key management (copying/organizing/distribution)
Maintain database and records
Project work and business development
Attend staff meetings
This is an expanding and evolving role, so future responsibilities may include:
Managing staff
Social media/marketing work
Customer service responsibilities
Further admin work

Career Development
The purpose of the Senior Pet Care Pro is primarily to assist the Neighborhood Manager in making sure daily operations run smoothly, but also to prepare for taking on the role of Neighborhood Manager themselves

5 days per week, including one weekend day
Scheduling/On Call 2x-3x per week (including weekends)
Any walks outside regular schedule or sitting at standard rate

Tue-Fri: Brookline
Saturday: Roslindale and Brookline
Week Two (the week McKayla works Sat):
Tue-Fri: Brookline
Saturday: Brookline and the South End

We're looking for people who love animals to a ridiculous level, love being outside (even in February!), and who are flexible, dependable and professional. Working with Boston Fetch is a great way to supplement your current income, or have us as your primary employment. We also offer some cool benefits and opportunities. Have a look.
Work around your schedule and leave the bulk of your day free for a second job or other pursuits. We do require a commitment of at least 3 weekdays per week, but those days and hours worked can be flexible.
We're always available to help you with any issues, whether pet-related or otherwise. A Neighborhood manager or Senior Pet Care Pro is always on hand to jump in if things go sideways. Also, we only schedule employees for walks with dogs they have met previously with a manager, and schedule compatible dogs on group walks.
We offer paid sick leave to employees after an initial hiring period. As an employee of Boston Fetch, you are also eligible for state medical and family leave programs.
We also offer paid time off to long term employees who hit certain performance benchmarks. These can be used for vacation, personal days, or just on a day off!
When you are hired by Boston Fetch you are a full employee, not an independent contractor. This means we contribute to Social Security, Medicare and other programs, and handle all withholding and tax payments. We also have comprehensive worker’s compensation insurance coverage for all staff. In addition, this gives you eligibility for the state family and medical leave program (https://www.mass.gov/info-details/paid-family-and-medical-leave-pfml-overview-and-benefits).
Payday is weekly each Friday by direct deposit. There are also some other benefits with our payroll processor, Gusto, such as split pay deposits, free interest earning checking account, tax tools and more (see https://gusto.com/product/wallet).
Customer can tip easily and frequently through our mobile app, and staff keep 100% of those tips (plus there are often holiday tips, but these aren’t guaranteed).
All Boston Fetch staff get a 10% discount on Pet Insurance with Lemonade (there are also some other discounts that make it a little cheaper!).
When staff hit certain gross income levels for the week, that triggers supplemental weekly pay.

Many staff supplement their main working schedules with weekend, evening and sitting services (when available).
